Community Event & Fundraising Requests

Community support is at the heart of our life-saving mission. Whether you’re hosting an adoption event, organizing a donation drive, scheduling a tour, or exploring another partnership opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. Please check out our event guidelines and FAQ’s below to learn more, and a member of our team will be in touch.

While we would love to participate in every opportunity, the volume of requests we receive—particularly for animal appearances—sometimes exceeds our available resources. We carefully review each request and do our best to accommodate as many opportunities as possible while ensuring the well-being of the animals in our care and the success of our programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

We love showcasing the unique personalities of our pets and helping them connect with potential adopters in the community. However, not every environment is the right fit for every animal. Being in a shelter can already be a stressful experience, and we want to ensure our animals are only placed in situations where they feel safe and comfortable.

While we make every effort to honor event commitments, there’s always a small chance we may need to cancel or adjust the event if:

  • Puppies or kittens are not available
  • An illness or unforeseen circumstance prevents an animal from participating

Animals attending events are selected based on temperament, stress level, age, health, and overall suitability for the event. Final decisions are made by our animal care team to ensure the best experience for both the animals and attendees.

Absolutely! If you’d like to host a community engagement event without animals, please contact our Volunteer & Community Engagement Manager, Abby, at [email protected]. There is no event fee for tabling/community events without animals.

As a nonprofit, we require an upfront donation to help cover animal care and staff labor.

  • Litter of puppies (or kittens if the event is indoors): $600 for a two-hour event ($300/hr)
  • Transportation fee: Events located more than 25 miles from our shelter will incur an additional transportation fee which will be determined based on your location.

This amount must be paid at least 24 hours before the event to confirm your booking. If payment is not received, the event will unfortunately be canceled.

Your donation can also be applied toward an event sponsorship upon request. If you’re interested, let us know and we’ll be happy to send you our sponsorship opportunities!

Offsite events require staff time, transportation, supplies, and animal care resources. Your donation helps offset these costs while supporting the animals in our care.

A $600 event donation can provide:

  • Over 12,000 pounds of pet food for our Full Bellies Food Bowl Program
  • Vaccinations and alterations for nine puppies
  • Over 600 cans of wet food for cats
  • Heartworm treatment for one small dog

Events are available on weekdays (Monday–Friday) during our operating hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Weekends, especially Saturdays, are our busiest times at the shelter, with the highest public traffic and adoption interest, so off-site availability is limited due to staff capacity. To ensure we can accommodate your request, all events must be scheduled at least 10 days in advance.

Please email Sallie Cornwell, Content & Events Coordinator, [email protected] about scheduling and availability.

To ensure a safe and smooth experience for both pets and people, please review the following:

  • No mixing litters – Multiple litters require separate playpens with adequate space between them.
  • Outdoor events – If the event is off-site and outdoors, we require a designated area for our tent, playpens, and tabling materials. Puppies will remain in their playpens and adult dogs must be on a leash.
  • Indoor events – Must have a closed-off space to keep the animals secure.
  • Weather restrictions – Events must be indoors if temperatures are above 85°F or below 45°F. Severe thunderstorms will also require moving the event indoors. If an event must be canceled due to weather, we’re happy to refund your donation if needed.
  • Food – If your event will provide food to guests, please take precautions to protect the animals. Follow proper food safety practices and ensure that guests do not bring food items near the pets. Many human foods can be harmful to animals, so it’s important to keep all food and drinks safely out of their reach.

Yes! Puppy yoga (or kitten yoga) follows the same guidelines as above!

  • Hosting your yoga event will require a donation to cover the costs of animal care and staff labor. This cost is $300 per one-hour class.
  • If the event is hosted at our facility, we can hold a maximum 30 folks per class.
  • We can host the event in our on-site garage or travel to a partner yoga studio (we recommend Fuel Hot Yoga).
  • For pet safety, we cannot participate in “hot yoga” during the summer at off-site studios.
  • We do not provide yoga mats, blocks, or instructors.

Yes, please! Supply drives, and especially food drives, are incredibly important for our pets and community. To best support and recognize your generous efforts, please reach out to our operations director, Steven, [email protected].
