The Red & Black — The Athens Area Humane Society will host a free vaccine clinic on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Athens Area Humane Society.

The clinic will be available for residents of Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Jasper, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Walton and Banks counties, according to a press release.

The vaccines include free rabies and distemper vaccinations and microchips for qualified dogs and cats.

Appointments cannot be made and they are operating on a first come, first serve basis. The first 200 animals will be able to receive a free vaccine. Pet owners must bring proof of residency as this is necessary for rabies tag information, which will be emailed to pet owners.
